How to use Gmail Smart compose you have to move to a new version of Gmail
How to switch from old Gmail version to new version
Open your Gmail account normally. On right-hand side click on settings icon then click Try the new Gmail, it will take few seconds to load the new version. Now new version of Gmail is ready to use.
Gmail smart compose Turn ON
To enable Smart Compose, On right-hand side click 1settings icon again, now under settings, you have to choose 2settings from a list. Within this panel, click the box next to “enable experimental access,” and then save your changes at the bottom. It will load again.

Now go to settings icon again, now under settings, you have to choose settings from a list. In the panel see Smart compose and select Writing suggestions on and then save your changes at the bottom.
You are ready to use Gmail smart compose. When you write the first email to someone it that tells you about smart compose and prompts you to press the Tab key whenever you see a prediction.
Things to be remember
Suggested text to complete sentences will appear in the background of your email in a lighter text.
